No need to run out to your favorite sub place for dinner now! With only a few ingredients, you can make these Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Cheesesteaks anytime you want!
So I’m going to confess something to y’all. I don’t actually own my own slow cooker. {GASP!} I know, I know, but our little apartment sized kitchen just doesn’t have the storage space & I’m just not willing to sacrifice my mixer.
So to make these yummy recipes this week I borrowed my fabulous MIL’s slow cooker. She has two so she never minds when I steal a slow cooker from her 🙂
These Chicken Cheesesteaks made a delicious dinner! The meat was super tender & flavorful. Plus the onions & peppers, holy cow did they turn out amazing! I decided to marinate the chicken in just a simple store bought bottle of marinade but you could use any of your favorite marinades or seasonings for this recipe. The only thing I think I would do differently the next time I made this is I would use shredded Mozzarella cheese instead of slices, so that as soon as I put the cheese on top of the straight from the crock pot it will melt & I won’t have to use the oven at all.

Slow Cooker Chicken Cheesesteaks
Ingredients
- 3/4 pound thinly sliced chicken breasts - about 3 chicken breasts
- 1 bottle 12 ounces of your favorite marinade - I used bourbon peppercorn
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 sweet onion thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper seeded & sliced
- sliced Mozzarella cheese
- hoagie rolls
Instructions
- In a large Ziploc bag, combine the chicken breasts & marinade. Seal & place in the fridge to marinade for at least 30 minutes up to overnight depending on the amount of flavor you want the chicken to have - I did overnight.
- Spray a 3-4 quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Set temperature to low.
- Add the butter, sliced onions & sliced peppers to the bottom of the slow cooker. Empty the contents of the Ziploc bag of chicken into the slow cooker on top of the onions & peppers.
- Cover & cook for 4-5 hours or until chicken can be easily shredded.
- Serve on the hoagies with a slice or two of melted mozzarella on top. I melted my cheese under the broiler in the oven for a minute or two.
