Frozen Inspired Cake Mix Cookies

These Frozen Inspired Cake Mix Cookies are a super cute & super easy way to make family movie night extra special! Let your little princesses help you in the kitchen & you’ll have a movie themed sweet treat in under an hour!

Frozen Inspired Cake Mix Cookies | MomsTestKitchen.com | #cakemixrecipes #easydessertsSo those of y’all that follow me on Instagram know that about a month or so ago, my MIL & I took Princess P to see her first movie in the theater. And of course it had to be the princess movie. When you have a 3 year old, pretty much everything involves either pink or princesses. 🙂

Movie Time! Now this kid has only seen the movie once. That one time in the theater, that’s it. And I honestly didn’t even feel like she was really paying attention. But this child of mine walks around belting out ‘Let It Go’ like she watches the movie every day! She sings it while she’s playing, while she’s taking a bath, while we’re in the car. It amazes me what their little minds can pick up after only seeing or hearing something once!

We rented it on the TV, she made sure she had on her princess dress & we watched a movie. But first, I thought it would be fun to make up a batch of cookies inspired by the movie to snack on while we watched. These are insanely easy to make but make that time together even more special 🙂

  • 1 box 15.25 ounces white cake mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • blue food coloring
  • blue sugar crystal sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine the cake mix, egg, water & butter and mix well. Next add 3-4 drops of the blue food coloring to the dough and stir. Let the dough set in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
  • Once the dough is set, remove it from the fridge & roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll into the sugar crystal sprinkles.
  • Place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet {I always line mine with foil first for easy clean up} and bake for 9-11 minutes.
  • Store in an airtight container.

  1. 4 stars
I made the recipe as directed and my cookies did not flatten out. About 4 minutes into the baking, I got worried and took them back out and flattened with a spoon. I read the reviews after baking or I probably would have added the additional water or melted butter as suggested by other reviewers. They did taste good though, so it all turned out fine.

  2. Might be helpful to edit the recipe to white shimmer sugar crystal sprinkles instead of blue sugar crystal sprinkles since using the blue sugar sprinkles do not make it look like the picture. I had to make a second batch using white sugar crystal sprinkles instead of the blue to make it look like the photo. I also needed twice as much water. The cookies are beautiful (using the white crystal sprinkles) and are going to be a big hit at my daughters frozen birthday party tomorrow. Thank you for posting the recipe.

  3. I found this correction necessary. Add the food coloring to the water before adding to the mix. Will take more than two teaspoons of water, just drizzle more in until you get the dough consistency

  4. Something not right with this recipe. Two teaspoons of water not enough to moisten the dough enough for the blue coloring to even mix in.

  5. I’ve never seen the movie because I have a prince who thinks he’s too cool for school (and kid movies). But he’s not too cool for your cookies. He picked them to feature when See Ya in the Gumbo goes live Sunday night.
