Brown Sugar Cookie Bars

These brown sugar cookie bars were soooo good!  They were kind of a cross between a chewy cookie & a brownie.  The flavor was amazing!
I may or may not have eaten the whole pan by myself.
BROWN SUGAR COOKIE BARS

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
LETS COOK:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8-inch square pan with cooking spray.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Turn off the heat, add the brown sugar and stir until smooth. Stir in the egg. Stir together the flour and baking powder and stir into the brown sugar mixture. Add the vanilla and almond. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes. When cool, cut into bars.

      It makes an 8×8 pan full ~ it all depends on how small you cut them. If you cut them into regular brownie size bars, you should get about 16. I cut my brownie size bars in half so I ended up with double that & each cookie was about a two bite size.

    Those look yummy! I have made sugar cookie bars before but not with brown sugar. I bet they are so moist and flavorful!

      This was the first time I had used brown sugar too & it was amazing! Such a completely different flavor from regular sugar cookies! Probably a new favorite!!
